FAQ

Q: How do I clean my countertops?

A.
All natural stones should be cleaned with a natural stone cleaner that can be found at any hardware store or at our two locations. Each quartz brand supplies a suggested cleaners list on their website. Please avoid using any acid or oil based products (dish soap, windex, or vinegar)

Q: Can I place hot pots and pans directly on my stone?

A.
The heat resistance of stone depends on the color. To avoid damaging your stone, use a trivet or pot holder to protect the countertops.

Q: Will my stone have visible seams?

A.
Some layouts may require a seam. This is due to the length of the countertop and size of the actual slab. If a seam is necessary, our team will work to design your countertops to enhance the aesthetics of your home and minimize seams.

Q: How durable is my stone?

A.
The durability of your countertop is stone specific. Each type of material is rated at a different level on the Moh’s Scale of Hardness. Although, more hardness does not always mean more durable. Please talk to your sales associate to discuss the durability of your specific stone.

Q: Are my countertops sealed and how often should I seal them?

A.
Your granite or marble countertops have been sealed before completing your job. However, some stones may need additional applications in the future. Every stone differs in porosity. If your countertop becomes darker when wet, it is time to seal. Resealing is a simple process and will not take much time at all. You can find a penetrating, natural stone sealer at your local hardware store or talk to our sales team about the products we offer. Spray on the sealer and let the countertop absorb the sealer. Wipe off the excess and enjoy your newly sealed countertops!

Q: What is the difference between granite and marble?

A.
Granite is an igneous rock that is more durable than marble. Marble is a metamorphic rock that is composed of mostly calcium and susceptible to staining and  scratching. Both come in a variety of colors and patterns.

Q: What are quartz countertops made of?

A.
Quartz countertops are a manufactured product composed of natural quartz and resin. This countertop option is maintenance fee and carries a brand specific warranty.
